FC Dallas Hire Eric Quill As Next Manager In Club History

FC Dallas have hired their next Manager in club history, Eric Quill. The 46 year old Texas native will take over as Manager of the third club of his career. Quill will now have the opportunity to manage a club at every professional level of soccer here in the United States.

His managerial gig came within the FC Dallas system, leading North Texas SC who then played in the USL League One (3rd division of U.S. soccer). With North Texas, Quill won two trophies; a USL League One Regular Season title and eventually the USL League One title. That North Texas SC squad is one that had on its roster; Ricardo Pepi, Bryan Reynolds, Tanner Tessman, Johan Gomez, Edwin Cerrillo, Dante Sealy, John Nelson, Brandon Servania, and more Dallas products. He would end his tenure at North Texas SC with a record of 35 wins, 21 draws, and 18 losses in 74 games and making the playoffs twice. After departing North Texas at the end of the 2021 season, Quill would join the Columbus Crew organization as an Assistant Manager under Caleb Porter for the 2022 MLS season.

After a season away from being a Manager, Eric Quill would get back into the reins of a club and take over as Manager of New Mexico United in June of 2023. Now in the 2nd division of U.S. soccer, Quill was given the chance at a new challenge. Quill would get New Mexico into the final playoff spot taking over halfway through the season, eventually losing to Sacramento Republic in the Conference Quarterfinals. This past season, Quill had New Mexico United finishing 1st in the Western Conference on 59 points. They did end up losing to Las Vegas Lights FC in the Conference Semi-finals during the USL playoffs. Quill finishes his tenure with New Mexico United with a record of 31 wins, 10 draws, and 22 losses.

Now, Quill moves on to FC Dallas who are coming off of a season where the club failed to make the MLS Cup Playoffs. However, this is a group that has seen a recent investment in players like Petar Musa, Alan Velasco, Patrickson Delgado, and more. Eric Quill should have every opportunity to succeed with Dallas. A club that invests in and knows how to identify young talent, and he’s someone who’s proven to do that in his career thus far.
