Toronto FC Trade For Thiago Andrade In MLS Expansion Draft Move
Toronto FC are still one of the remaining MLS clubs without a Manager as John Herdman resigned from his role at the club. With that, it will be tough to determine who is making decisions around player signings and transfers. However, Toronto FC have made one move so far this off-season acquiring winger Thiago Andrade from San Diego FC for a MLS SuperDraft selection, $250k in conditional GAM, and a future sell on % if Andrade is sold outside of MLS. San Diego selected Andrade from New York City FC in this offseason’s MLS Expansion Draft.
The 24 year old Brazilian winger won a MLS Cup and Campeones Cup with New York City prior to being loaned out the last two seasons. In 2023, Andrade was loaned to CA Paranaense in Brazil where he made 16 appearances across all competitions. Andrade did also made 4 appearances for NYCFC in 2023 where he scored once. Last season, NYCFC loaned Andrade to Chinese club Shenzhen Peng City where he scored 3 goals and had 3 assists in 24 games for the club.
Toronto FC does have to work on a contract with Andrade, however, if they can work out that deal he has proven to be a productive player in this league. Andrade had 12 goals and 5 assists for NYCFC in 71 games prior to his two loan spells.
