Houston Dynamo FC Have Signed Ezequiel Ponce From AEK Athens
The Houston Dynamo have splashed some major cash this summer. The Dynamo have signed striker Ezequiel Ponce from AEK Athens in Greece. The 27 year old Ponce will join Houston as a Designated Player. No reported transfer fee has been laid out, but, according to many this will be the Dynamo’s record signing in club history.
This past season Ponce scored 16 goals in 38 games across all competitions for AEK Athens. In his career he has played for; AEK Athens, Spartak Moscow, Elche CF, Lille, Newell’s Old Boys, and Granada CF. Ponce could be the missing piece on a Houston Dynamo roster that is missing a dominant goal scorer. If Ponce can adjust to MLS quickly, I think Houston could skyrocket to the top of the Western Conference.
Reports out there from Tom Bogert state that the Dynamo will try to move on from Designated Player striker Sebastian Ferriera this summer. Currently, the Dynamo have four Designated Players on their roster and they do need to make some sort of move this summer to be roster compliant.
