Xherdan Shaqiri Has Made MLS History While Away With Switzerland
Xherdan Shaqiri makes MLS history… just not in the way people might have expected when he signed. Shaqiri’s time within Major League Soccer hasn’t gone as expected. In his 75 games played for Chicago, he’s scored 16 goals and 13 assists… not the same playing DP level we’ve seen across MLS.
However, Shaqiri now becomes the first active MLS player to score at the Euros. The 32 year old Shaqiri has been a staple of the Switzerland National Team for years. He’s once again scored and stepped up for his country, now I think Fire fans would hope for the same in Chicago. He has now scored 3 goals in total in 2024, only 2 coming in his MLS play.
