The toughest group this week for me to pick two guys out of was the forwards. So many braces, so many assists, but it came down to the starting pair of Diego Rossi and Gustavo Bou. Rossi, the reigning Golden Boot winner, came in hot this week alongside Carlos Vela and was able to score both goals in LAFC’s 2-1 win over the Rapids. Picking Bou was the harder choice as there were some other major weeks, but he was able to score and hit an assist to Adam Buksa who came in late. Adding to the solid attack of the Revs this week, Arnor Traustason made his welcome to the league with two assists this week to Bou and Tajon Buchanan. If this was an actual team, playing in the other wide midfield spot would be Memo Rodriguez who scored and set up Maxi Urruti in Houston’s 2-1 win over Vancouver. Playing more central has to be Jamiro Monteiro and Lucas Zelarayan. Monteiro has the game winning assist and was breaking up chances in the midfield all game long for the Union. Zelarayan hit TWO free kick goals away against NYCFC… breaking my heart at the same time. Along the backline FC Cincinnati’s new signing in Geoff Cameron paid off with a solid performance along the back and recording an assist on the club’s first goal in this one. Orlando’s Kyle Smith makes it back to back weeks after he had 6 successful tackles against Toronto FC showing he should be a game in and game out starter for this team. The last player I want to point at for this week was Andre Blake. The Jamaican international had seven saves against D.C. United preserving the 1-0 shutout victory.
Who do you agree with? Who did I miss? Let me know! Week 7 is almost here!!!
