Steven Beitashour Announces His Retirement From Professional Soccer
Longtime MLS fullback Steven Beitashour has announced his retirement from professional soccer. Over the course of his 14 year career Beitashour would suit up for the San Jose Earthquakes, Toronto FC, LAFC, Vancouver Whitecaps, Colorado Rapids, and even a few games for the Colorado Rapids 2.
Beitashour was easily known as one of the best, if not the best, rightback in MLS for many years within the league. Especially during his window of play between 2010 and 2017, Beitashour was part of some historically great defenses. What stands out to me during his career is his time with Toronto FC. One thing that made Toronto FC great (outside of the obvious of Sebastian Giovinco), was the fullback duo of Steven Beitashour and Justin Morrow. This duo could easily be considered the best fullback pairing on any roster in MLS history.
Toronto FC wasn’t the only spot in his career where he found success. Beitashour ends his career with 7 trophies in his cabinet. He won the 2017 MLS Cup, won 3 Supporters’ Shields (2012, 2017, & 2019), as well as winning 3 Canadian Championship titles (2015, 2016, & 2017). In addition to the hardware, Beitashour was also named a MLS All Star in 2012. In his 325 career games played, Beitashour would score 5 goals and have 44 assists. Outside of his fantastic club career, Beitashour was able to represent Iran at the national team level.
Congratulations on a fantastic career Steven!
