San Jose Earthquakes Acquire Striker Preston Judd From LA Galaxy
The San Jose Earthquakes have acquired striker Preston Judd from the LA Galaxy in exchange for $200k in GAM. There is also a chance for an additional $50k in GAM if certain performances are hit by Judd. The 24 year old striker looks to now serve as the primary backup striker to Jeremy Ebobisse on the Quakes roster. Judd started his career within the USL Championship back in 2021 with the LA Galaxy II. He would impress enough on the 2nd team roster to get the full LA Galaxy contract. In the end, Judd would finish with 19 games played for the Galaxy (57 for Los Dos), 3 goals scored (30 for Los Dos), and 1 assist (8 for Los Dos).
It is clear that Preston Judd is a very high level option for a USL Championship roster. But, within Major League Soccer, he still needs to prove himself. His current goal scoring rate within MLS is scoring a goal every 212 minutes played. For me to have faith in him being a strong backup for an MLS roster, I’d like to see that number be at least closer to a goal every 180 minutes played. But, Judd is still young and I’d argue never given a full shot within MLS for the Galaxy. Maybe with San Jose and Luchi Gonzalez he can find his goal scoring form once again.
