St. Louis City Sign Tomas Totland From BK Hacken
St. Louis City SC have started their roster build for season number two. The newest “active” club (shoutout to San Diego) have signed right-back Tomas Totland from BK Hacken in Sweden. The 24 year old fullback has had a ton of success with Hacken winning the 2022 Allsvenskan as well as the 2023 Swedish Cup. The former Norwegian youth international has played for the likes of BK Hacken, Tomso IL, Sogndal IL, and Fana Football. During his time at these clubs, he has racked up 180 career games with 14 goals and 19 assists. He has the ability to play left-back as well, but Totland plays as primarily a right-back.
Totland joins a deep right-back positional group for St. Louis that already consists of Jake Nerwinski, Akil Watts, and Owen O’Malley. Jake Nerwinski seems to be the starter for this club in 2024, but Totland looks to be the main back-up option to him. There is an argument that Totland could lineup as the back-up or even third string leftback for this squad. That all depends on how Kyle Heibert is played in 2024; if he’s viewed as a centerback, then Totland could be the backup. If Heibert is viewed as a leftback option, then Totland would fall a little further back in that depth chart. But either way… Totland provides some nice depth in multiple spots for St. Louis City and once again, showing the strong scouting this organization continues to prove they are capable of.
