Atlanta United Add Defensive Midfield Help In Dax McCarty And Bartosz Slisz

Atlanta United have signed MLS veteran defensive midfielder Dax McCarty ahead of the 2024 MLS season. The 36 year old played his last four MLS seasons with Nashville SC. Prior to Nashville he spent time with the Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls, D.C. United, and FC Dallas respectively. Dax will go down as one of the greatest defensive midfielders in MLS history when it's all said and done. But one of the best to ever do it in MLS continues on, this time in the “Dirty South”. The two time Supporters’ Shield winner and one time MLS Best XI midfielder joins Atlanta United’s new look defensive midfield.

Atlanta added a second defensive midfielder recently in Polish international Bartosz Slisz from Legia Warsaw in the Polish top division. The 24 year old Slisz joins the Atlanta United locker room after winning two Ekstraklasa titles, a Polish Cup, and two Polish Super Cups. With over 260 professional games under his belt, Slisz has an impressive resume playing for the likes of Legia Warsaw, Zaglebie Lubin, and ROW 1964 Rybnik. 

Slisz and McCarty will round out a new look lower midfield block for Gonzalo Pineda’s side. Atlanta needed an upgrade here. They 100% hit a homerun with the signing of Thiago Almada and seemingly have hit a homerun with the Tristan Muyumba signing, the only thing missing was a strong 6. With the MLS experience of Dax McCarty and potential of Slisz, Atlanta could and should have a strong midfield for the 2024 calendar year.
