Austin FC Buyout Contract Of Emiliano Rigoni

Austin FC Buyout Contract Of Emiliano Rigoni

Austin FC have used their contract buyout option on their now former Designated Player winger Emiliano Rigoni. The 31 year old Rigoni’s contract and roster designations will now no longer be a factor for Austin FC in terms of roster construction. The former Argentine international has played 700 minutes this season for Austin in which he has only scored 1 goal. Rigoni’s time in MLS and for Austin has not been played at a Designated Player or even fruitful level. During his 3,607 minutes and 58 games played, Rigoni has recorded only 6 goals and 6 assists.

Rigoni’s arrival to Austin FC was met with high praise as his resume consisted of playing at the highest levels in global soccer like; Atalanta, Zenit, Independiente, and Sao Paulo. He arrived after winning three Russian Premier League titles, a Russian Cup, a Russian Super Cup, and one Copa Sudamericana. Fans and pundits around MLS grew tired of the lack of production from Rigoni, and the news of his contract buyout was met with praise of the organization. There are already heavy rumors that Austin’s front office have his Designated Player replacement in Ghana international winger Osman Bukari who is currently playing for Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.
