MLSAces Week 2 - Team of the Week

MLSAces Week 2 - Team of the Week

The second week of the 2021 MLS season has come and gone. Some players were able to stay on top of their game, while others were able to break out. Let’s dive into week two and the stars around MLS that made it spectacular:

DEF: Cristian Gutierrez - Vancouver Whitecaps

DEF: Kyle Smith - Orlando City SC

DEF: Xavier Arreaga - Seattle Sounders

DEF: Zachary Brault-Guillard - CF Montreal

MID: Matt Polster - New England Revolution

MID: Anderson Julio - Real Salt Lake

FWD: Gonzalo Higuain - Inter Miami CF

FWD: Chicharito - LA Galaxy

Bench:

DEF: Miles Robinson - Atlanta United

DEF: Boris Sekulic - Chicago Fire

MID: Eric Remedi - San Jose Earthquakes

MID: Cristian Casseres Jr. - New York Red Bulls

FWD: Cade Cowell - San Jose Earthquakes

FWD: Tati Castellanos - NYCFC

Of course, I have to start with Week two’s player of week (who arguably could have been week one’s as well): Chicharito. His first career MLS hat trick and his 3rd, 4th, and 5th goals of the 2021 season led to a big win over the New York Red Bulls. Combined with brace performances from Gonzalo Higuain, Anderson Julio, and Cecilio Dominguez, week two included a ton of goals. Defensively, Cristian Gutierrez made my Team of the Week for the second week in a row, following a strong away performance against Toronto FC. Joining Gutierrez from another Canadian club is fullback Zachary Brault-Guillard, as CF Montreal continue to get results. Lastly, Xavier Arreaga joins the backline, after putting up a STRONG performance against LAFC, holding them to a draw at home.

With week 3 right around the corner, let me know your picks in the comments below!
