LA Galaxy Sign Miki Yamane From Japanese Top Division
The LA Galaxy continue their off-season rebuild with an addition to their backline. The Galaxy have signed Japanese International rightback Miki Yamane. The 30 year old Yamane has found major success while playing in Japan; winning two J1 League titles, a J2 League title, J.League Cup title, Japanese Super Cup title, two Emperor Cup titles, and was named to the J1 League Best XI three times. While playing for Kawasaki Frontale and Shonan Bellmare, Yamane has racked up 290 games played, over 25,000 minutes played, 15 goals scored, and 36 assists. He also has 16 caps for Japan, during those caps he has scored 2 goals and added 4 assists. He would add an international trophy to his cabinet as well, winning the East Asian Championship in 2022.
Yamane immediately fills into the starting rightback role for the Galaxy heading into 2024. With Lucas Calegari and Kelvin Leerdam’s departures from the club this off-season, the only other rightback that was left on the roster was Mauricio Cuevas. With Cuevas still only at the age of 20, I expect to see the seasoned veteran Yamane get a majority of the minutes.
