MLS Aces Power Rankings - Post Decision Day
The MLS regular season has come to a close and we know now our 14 true playoff teams and 4 play-in game teams. With the close of another week of MLS action as well as the regular season, comes the final MLS Aces Power Rankings article of the 2024 calendar year. In the East, Inter Miami were able to lock down the MLS single season points record with a huge win over New England thanks to Lionel Messi. Orlando was able to get the final home playoff spot even with a loss on Decision Day. Out in the Western Conference, LAFC were able to do the unthinkable to take the #1 spot in the West after they took down San Jose. The Houston Dynamo also played a part in that as they took down the Los Angeles Galaxy late. Also at the top the West, Real Salt Lake took the 3 seed over the Sounders after RSL beat the Whitecaps and Sounders drew to the Timbers. Here is how the the top 10 rankings look as the MLS Cup Playoffs arrive:

It wasn’t just the top of the conference that made some noise on Decision Day to lock into the playoffs. CF Montreal and Atlanta United picked up big wins over secured playoff clubs to make their way into the play-in game. Minnesota picked up a huge win and with some help in terms of other clubs losing… they got out of play-in game territory. Here is how 11-29 shape out in my season ending power rankings article:
